holiday research/ sketchbook pages

Throughout the holiday I was working on my sketchbook pages on the Green Man Festival. My initial research was to find pictures and deep information about Green Man, what is the festival, and what atmosphere they put out to the world. I took my time looking over websites because I wanted to take my time to understand my chosen topic and to see where my initial idea would lead me to. After doing research through websites I understood the gravity of how nature is one of the most important factors in the festival so I then went outside and looked over what was all around me, all types of plants which I used in my sketchbook pages. I took plenty of pictures of textured branches and bark beca use I knew it would be helpful in the end even if I didn’t know what I would do with it. My energy was to take my time with everything because rushing won’t help and also share the ideology of the Green Man festival which I wanted to translate through my research pages. I then applied all I’d found from many trips to parks to then make some research pages, in the beginning of actually creating my pages it went very well I knew what I was doing but also had fun with my project. I played with many mediums and textures so I could connect my theme with blank pages. I experimented with pencil work and texture. When researching Green Man over many websites the interpretation I came to about was the admiration for nature and the connection we all have with it. Being submerged with plants and branches, not avoiding the world around us but letting it conform to us as people who live on this earth. Celebrating what we have now rather than pushing it away. All the great things I interpreted from Green Man made me want to transfer that in my sketchbook which I would say for a while to put on paper. I tried to work very strategically with my time over the break which lead me to have enough pages to support my strong interest in Green Man. I knew I still wanted to push myself with the ideas I had and to try and progress in the best way possible throughout this project.
