Week 1

During this week I was placed in a group talking about the research pages that we did over the break, we were sharing feedback on where we can improve or I’ve deeper with certain aspects of our concepts. I got good feedback on my cohesiveness but I also got some advice on adding more text to my pages which I lacked a bit. I did agree with that point because I think I went straight in with drawings and put all the ideas I had on paper rather than putting more words on them. After speaking about my work I then looked at my group work and I enjoyed how everyone’s research pages had very unique aesthetics and individuality. Each person in my group had their way of working which made looking at one another’s research pages interesting, even having simple glances at everyone’s work in the class was fantastic to see all the different ways each designer thinks. After the peer review with another, we then moved on to 3D idea work, developing from our initial research over the break. I then started out working on the mini mannequins to create texture, personally when working on the mini mannequins I did not enjoy how small the mannequins were so I then changed and started working on the bigger mannequin which helped my development. The larger mannequins helped me visualize the silhouette and the texture. At the beginning of my transition of switching mannequins, it was a bit hard to transfer my research pages for it to come to life but eventually, it worked out. Throughout the whole class, I was working quite slowly but I still had 3D ideas. Around the end of class, I was confident with what I made but I knew I wanted to create more 3D ideas on my own time. Looking back on Week 1 I would have prepared more 3D ideas, I am a visual person so I should on drawn and communicated what I wanted to do in class, honestly, I would say Week 1 went very well for me but things took me a bit longer then I expected.
